Die Europäische Union hat ihren Fokus in den letzten Jahren stärker auf die Metropolregionen gerichtet, denn dort werden die gesellschaftlichen, ökonomischen und ökologischen Herausforderungen unserer Zukunft zu bewältigen sein. Um sich als Metropolregion FrankfurtRheinMain im regionalpolitischen Diskurs der Europäischen Union positionieren und aktiv einbringen zu können, vertritt die Region ihre Interessen durch ein gemeinsames Europabüro. Die Träger des Europabüros sind die Stadt Frankfurt am Main und der Regionalverband FrankfurtRheinMain, der gleichzeitig die Geschäftsstelle des Büros übernimmt. Weiterhin arbeitet das Büro mit der FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region.
Das Europabüro der Metropolregion FrankfurtRheinMain besteht aus einer Vertretung in Brüssel mit Sitz in der hessischen Landesvertretung und einem Büro beim Regionalverband in Frankfurt. Das Europabüro der Metropolregion FrankfurtRheinMain bildet die Schnittstelle zwischen der Metropolregion, dem Land Hessen und der Europäischen Kommission.
Die Aufgaben des Europabüros sind vielfältig und erstrecken sich von klassischer Lobby-Arbeit in Brüssel über die Fördermittelakquise, die Imagebildung, Termin- und Veranstaltungsorganisationen, die Vernetzung europäischer und regionaler Akteure in der Europaarbeit bis hin zur Einflussnahme auf europäische Gesetzgebungsverfahren.

The European Union has turned its focus more on the metropolitan regions over the past few years as these regions will have to face social, economical and ecological challenges in the upcoming years. In taking position and participating in the political discourse of the regional development on an EU level the EU Office will be able to represent the common interests of the Metropolitan Region Frankfurt RheinMain.
The shareholders of the office are the city of Frankfurt am Main and the Regional Authority FrankfurtRheinMain in which the EU Office is located. Additionally the EU office is collaborating with FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region.
The EU Office of the Metropolitan Region FrankfurtRheinMain consists of an agency located in the representation of the Land Hessen in Brussels and an office on the Regional Authority’s premises in Frankfurt. It is the gateway between the Metropolitan Region FrankfurtRheinMain, the Land Hessen and the EU-Institutions.
The tasks of the office are versatile and comprise a broad range of classical lobbying in Brussels, but also consist of acquiring EU funds, engaging in image-building, organising meetings and events, connecting European and regional actors in their work on EU affairs as well as trying to influence EU legislation.
